UK Data Residency
GDPR-friendly hosting, with data that stays in the UK.
HostPanel hosts everything in our London datacentre: sites, apps, databases, email, and the daily backups of all of them. We're a UK-owned company with no US parent, so your data sits under UK jurisdiction alone, and your UK GDPR paperwork gets dramatically shorter because there are no international transfers to document.

What UK data residency actually gets you
Not a compliance badge, but three concrete things: shorter paperwork, a single jurisdiction, and a straight answer for anyone who asks where the data is.
The paperwork shrinks
Under UK GDPR, moving personal data abroad requires a lawful transfer mechanism: an adequacy decision, an IDTA, or SCCs with a transfer risk assessment, all of which must be maintained as laws change. Data that never leaves the UK needs none of it. Your record of processing lists one location and your DPIA's residency section is one sentence.
One jurisdiction, not two
Host with the UK region of a US-headquartered provider and your data still has two legal systems attached: UK law where the server sits, and US law via the parent company, including the CLOUD Act's reach over data US firms control anywhere in the world. HostPanel is UK-registered and UK-owned (company no. 16788201), so UK law is the only law in the stack.
Client and tender questions get easy
Supplier questionnaires, public sector tenders, and professional-services clients increasingly ask where data is stored and who can access it. 'London, UK, with a UK-owned provider, backups included' is an answer that closes the question rather than opening a follow-up thread about sub-processors and transfer safeguards.
An honest note: you may not legally need this
UK GDPR does not require most businesses to keep data in the UK. Transfers to the EU are covered by adequacy, and transfers elsewhere can be made lawful with the right safeguards. If a host tells you UK residency is legally mandatory for your café's booking site, they're selling, not advising. What residency does is make compliance simpler and cheaper to evidence, and for some contracts, particularly public sector, legal, health, and financial work, UK-only storage is a stated requirement rather than a preference.

Read: UK data residency, hosting, and GDPRResidency as the default, not an add-on
There is no 'UK region' to select and no premium residency tier. This is simply how HostPanel is built.
Data stays in London
Compute, storage, and databases all run in our London datacentre. There is no configuration in which your hosted data is replicated abroad.
Backups stored in the UK
Daily backups on every plan are stored in the UK too. Residency that excludes backups isn't residency; ours includes them.
UK-owned, no US parent
HostPanel is a UK-registered, UK-owned company (no. 16788201) with no US parent, so the US CLOUD Act has no route to your data through our corporate structure.
UK GDPR & DPA 2018 alignment
Data processed and stored only in the UK means no international transfers to assess or document at the hosting layer.
One-line DPIA answers
'Where is the data?' becomes a single sentence in your privacy notice, DPIA, and supplier questionnaires: London, United Kingdom.
Free SSL and DDoS included
Encryption in transit via free SSL and always-on DDoS protection are standard on every plan, alongside residency.
